House of VèVè
Welcome to the House of VèVèIn 2004, amid profound personal loss, Phelicia Dell began turning grief into creation in her native Port-au-Prince. Two years later she introduced her first collection — twenty-five hand-beaded cocktail gowns. What began with repurposed textiles and sheer will has grown into a house recognized internationally, without losing the hands or heart that built it.
Meet the Designer
Meet Phelicia Dell
Born in Port-au-Prince to a dressmaker mother and a textile-factory-supervisor father, self-taught, and one of the few native Haitian designers to own her own studio outright. In 2009 she won the Diane von Fürstenberg award for Best Emerging Handbag Designer, launching her onto the international stage. "After seventeen years striving for a better life and inspiring a community of artisans, I couldn't be prouder of what I have accomplished."

The Meaning Behind the SymbolThe vèvè is a sacred symbol drawn in Haitian Vodou to honor the spirit it represents. House of VèVè draws from a library of over 1,000 such signs, each hand-selected and hand-applied — meaning chosen before form.
