“A SYNERGY OF ART & SOUL”

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Phelicia Dell is a self-taught artist, designer, and creative visionary whose work bridges fashion, culture, spirituality, and artisan craftsmanship. Raised by a dressmaker and experienced textile factory supervisor, she was immersed in the world of fabrics, construction, and design from an early age. Her artistic talent was quickly recognized by her family and community, laying the foundation for what would become one of Haiti’s most distinctive luxury artisan brands.

In 2004, following the tragic loss of her business partner and the father of her child, Phelicia experienced a profound creative transformation that would later inspire the signature identity of VèVè Collections. Drawing deeply from Haiti’s sacred rhythms, dance traditions, spiritual symbolism, and Vèvè diagrams, she began developing a visual language that fused heritage with contemporary fashion and wearable art.

VèVè Collections officially debuted in 2006 with a collection of 25 handcrafted beaded cocktail gowns, introducing a bold new perspective on Haitian design. Over the years, the brand evolved into a celebrated artisan house known for its refined craftsmanship, symbolic storytelling, and unique silhouettes. Phelicia became one of the few Haitian-born designers to own and operate her own workshop, where each creation is carefully developed with attention to detail, quality, and artistic integrity.

Her work is recognized for its elegance, distinctive accents, and innovative approach to shapes, curves, textiles, and symbolic forms. Inspired by artifacts, cultural research, and the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean, Phelicia blends ethnic influences with modern sophistication to create timeless collections that are both soulful and contemporary.

Her talent and vision quickly gained international recognition. In 2009, after being identified by organizations such as “Women in Democracy” and “Voix Essentielles” (formerly Vital Voices), renowned designer Diane von Furstenberg recognized Phelicia as one of the greatest rising handbag designers of her generation. Through her work, VèVè Collections helped elevate Haitian handmade craftsmanship onto the global fashion stage, introducing Vèvè-inspired artistry as a new iconic aesthetic.

Over the years, Phelicia Dell has received numerous honors and distinctions, including recognition from “Island of the World” for Fashion and Cultural Design, being named among Daily Beast’s “150 World-Shakers,” and receiving accolades as a rising entrepreneur and master designer. In 2021, she was named one of Haiti’s 50 most inspiring and influential women by IFTH & STH.

Today, Phelicia Dell continues to showcase her creations internationally through boutiques, galleries, exhibitions, and runways across Miami, New York, Paris, Guadeloupe, Martinique, the Bahamas, Argentina, London, Canada, the Dominican Republic, and beyond. Her work has appeared at prestigious events including Miami Fashion Week, Caribbean Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and Island of the World Fashion Week.

More than a fashion designer, Phelicia Dell is a cultural storyteller whose work preserves heritage through contemporary artisan luxury. Through VèVè Collections, she continues to create timeless designs that celebrate Haitian identity, craftsmanship, resilience, and artistic excellence for generations to come.
