Haiti is the home of VèVè Collections workshop and designer Phelicia Dell, who is inspire by the cultural values of this country. The company ‘s success resulted in a demand for an international sales venue, after winning the award of Best Emerging handbag designer, a competition launch by DVF in 2009, followed by a Miami Herald story on Phelicia Dell’s Handbags. Consequently, it was market demand that gave ascend to the brand.

“The concept of VèVè Collections was born in 2005 after the tragic death of my partner and baby’s father. I then continue my journey by giving myself a new quest as I devoted my talent to create the perfect line of fashion ware reflecting the Haitian culture. “I saw a void in the fashion industry and looked to create a brand that offered style and sophistication while still serving the needs of the everyday woman like me. “I was sitting inside my home looking at my left over fabrics from my previous venture and I thought, now that’s a perfect way to start creating value to Haitian craft and give life to a new industry, by captivating the Haitian voodoo flags to produce a line of high hand fashion and promote Haiti’s sense of art and couture throughout the world. “At that particular time, I had no doubt that I was flipping in my hands my ticket to a brighter future for my daughter and I,” Phelicia ‘s answer to how the idea of the brand came to life. 

The remarkable success of VèVè is the work of a determine businesswomen a mother of one, who has responded to the masters of Haiti’s land. Soon after her winning award as a designer, she wasted no time turning her VèVè brand into an established company. Phelicia Dell’s catalog will exceed your expectations. Through her designs, the artist developed a flair for anticipating surefire success that will win every creation. She applies implacable rigidity to finishes. Any dissatisfaction compels her to arm herself with her scissors, ripping the smallest imperfection. Her team is inspired and encouraged by the prospect of being part of a crazy dream created inside VèVè’s workshop.” I have worked and created voodoo flags for many years with my uncle who has passed recently. For me it is not just making the flags, today Mrs. Dell Art has giving me my life a new perspective,” explain Gertrude. ” I have learned the composition of colors and contrasts of overlapping elements to create the most beautiful pieces of Art which seems to float, vary in height and form as Mrs. Dell pieces offers views from differentiating the voodoo flags couture as a high end Art above all taboos of the voodoo culture ” say’s Jhonny.

“What I am most proud of today is how I created a brand that allows me to provide for my girl and educate her to pursue her goal in life. The possibilities I have to  support the youth with their education plans and many families with sustainable jobs. Through VèVè Collections, I found a platform to play my role in social causes and giving back to my community.

“After 17 years striving for a better life and inspiring a community of artisans, I couldn’t be prouder of what I have accomplished. I get exited every time I get an opportunity to show my Art and prove to the world that as little opportunity you may have, you can make a difference if you believe.” Says Mrs. Dell
