Vèvè Collections is proud to announce its selection by the UNESCO Bureau to participate in a prestigious exhibition in Paris commemorating the candidacy of the Haitian Vèvè for inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
For more than fifteen years, Phelicia Dell, founder and Creative Director of Vèvè Collections, has dedicated her artistic career to transforming the sacred symbols of the Haitian Vèvè into contemporary fashion and wearable art. Through handbags, garments, accessories, and cultural exhibitions, Vèvè Collections has helped bring the beauty and meaning of the Haitian Vèvè to audiences around the world, establishing itself as a pioneering cultural fashion brand inspired by this powerful artistic tradition.
This invitation to Paris is both an honor and a continuation of that mission.
The exhibition, to be held at a museum in Paris in early December, will gather artists, cultural leaders, and institutions to celebrate Haiti’s rich artistic heritage and support the international recognition of the Haitian Vèvè as an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
During the exhibition, Vèvè Collections will present a curated selection of handcrafted handbags, garments, and artistic creations inspired by the intricate geometry, symbolism, and spiritual significance of the Vèvè. Each piece reflects the brand’s commitment to preserving heritage while presenting Haitian creativity through the language of contemporary design.
“Since the founding of Vèvè Collections, my mission has been to honor the Haitian Vèvè by transforming its beauty into works of art that people can wear with pride,” says Phelicia Dell. “As a brand that has helped popularize the Vèvè as a symbol of Haitian culture through fashion, we proudly stand in support of this historic effort to elevate the Haitian Vèvè to the highest international level. Seeing this cultural treasure receive the recognition it deserves is an honor not only for our brand but for Haiti and for generations to come.”
For Vèvè Collections, this exhibition is more than a fashion event. It is the celebration of a lifelong commitment to preserving Haiti’s artistic identity and sharing its cultural richness with the world.
As Paris welcomes this historic cultural celebration, Vèvè Collections proudly joins artists, historians, and cultural advocates in supporting the recognition of the Haitian Vèvè as a universal symbol of creativity, spirituality, and heritage.
Together, we celebrate a symbol that has inspired our work for years, and we proudly stand behind the effort to see the Haitian Vèvè recognized among the world’s greatest cultural treasures.
